Once the world does open up, the true scope of the area is laid at your feet, patiently awaiting your first step. Once that is completed, the world opens up like a new dawn upon an endless landscape. That all said, the Witcher 3 spends the entire opening area of White Orchard as a training ground of sorts, a microcosm of the entire open world, from side quests, random encounters, storylines, plot developments, and everything in between, giving you plenty of time to explore, experiment, and discover what suits your play style. All of which have their own definitions when it comes to gameplay. If something is ignored by the player, it was either useless, unnecessary, or unneeded. There may be no other way around it, but well designed games don’t always need every mechanic in play in order to be enjoyable. Gameplay: If you’re unfamiliar with modern RPGs, The Witcher 3 can feel overwhelming, but as is every other RPG, whether in video game form or pen and paper tabletops. Now that technology has reached a certain state, has that dream of mine come to fruition with this third installment?

It did take me some time to complete the main story, but let me be clear here and now: it’s not because it was boring or I lost interest, quite the opposite, there’s so much to do. Introduction: After the sudden, abrupt, and surprisingly short Witcher 2, I wasn’t sure what I was going to expect from this third installment.
